Will Cricket Work with Straight Talk

You can use your Cricket phone with Straight Talk once it is unlocked, as long as it meets the requirements of the Straight Talk carrier for their Keep Your Own Phone (KYOP) program.

Cricket Wireless phones come locked, so to make Cricket work with Straight Talk Wireless, you need to unlock your Cricket phone to make it compatible. You can contact Cricket Customer Support at 1-800-274-2538 to request an unlock code, which you can then enter on your Cricket phone to unlock it.

When making an unlock code request, ensure that you have met Cricket Wireless’s unlocking requirements, which include completing a contract or paying off any remaining device balance. Additionally:

  • Your Cricket phone should have had six consecutive months of service before you request an unlock.
  • Your account should have been active for six months with paid service on the locked device.
  • The device you want to unlock should not have been reported lost, stolen, or suspended for fraud.

Important Tips:

For iPhones and modern Android devices that use eSIM, you may need to provide the IMEI number to the new carrier you want to switch to. This process keeps the eSIM intact while unlocking the device, allowing it to be used with any compatible carrier.

To clarify the eSIM activation process, you need to provide the new carrier with your device’s IMEI number and receive an activation code (usually in the form of a QR code) to install and activate the eSIM profile on your device. This process typically takes a few minutes to complete and get connected.

Activating Straight Talk eSIM on Your Unlocked Cricket Phone

  1. Contact Straight Talk or the carrier you want to switch to and provide them with your phone’s IMEI number. You can usually find the IMEI number in your phone’s settings under “About” or by dialing *#06#.
  2. Download the Straight Talk eSIM, usually in the form of a QR code.
  3. On your phone, go to Settings and look for the eSIM or Cellular settings.
  4. Select the “Add new eSIM” profile and follow the instructions for “Install Cellular Plan.”
  5. Your phone will scan the QR code, install, and activate the eSIM profile.
  6. Follow any additional instructions to complete the activation process.

Once you have completed these steps, your Cricket phone will be unlocked and the eSIM will be activated, allowing you to use your device with Straight Talk as your new carrier.
